The Grammateus will read the Graduate Prospective Candidate
Form and the names of the sponsor and co-sponsors to the
chapter at a meeting for which written notice shall have been
sent to each active member at least seven (7) days prior to the
meeting. The Grammateus will prepare one ballot with names of
all prospective candidates, except Legacy Candidates, who are
not voted on, and secret voting will take place at the same
meeting at which candidates' names and recommendations are
presented.
B. Alpha Kappa Omega Chapter may hold only one meeting a year at
which voting upon candidates may take place. A candidate's name
may be voted upon only once for a given initiation.
C. The names of all candidates shall be placed on one ballot and a
secret vote taken. A favorable vote shall consist of two-thirds of the
members voting on that candidate. Legacy candidates do not
require a vote. Sorors present but not voting are not counted. There
shall be no proxy votes nor absentee ballots.
D. A candidate for graduate initiation must be a woman of high ethical
and moral standards who has attained a baccalaureate, graduate,
or professional degree from an accredited senior college or
university and who has some definite contribution to make to Alpha
Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated.
E. Candidacy for membership in Alpha Kappa Omega Chapter may be
withdrawn for valid reasons at any time prior to initiation upon a two-
thirds vote of the members present at a meeting for which written
notice has been sent to each chapter member at least seven (7)
days prior to the meeting. The withdrawal of candidacy shall be
subject to the approval of the regional director.
F. The Membership Intake Process Chairman shall never have
been suspended for hazing.
