shall be subject to all rules adopted by the Chapter to govern such
meetings, which may include any reasonable limitations on, and
requirements for, members’ participation. Any such adopted rules shall
supersede any conflicting rules in the parliamentary authority.

ARTICLE VIII: MEMBERSHIP

Section 1. GRADUATE MEMBER

A graduate member is a Soror who has earned a baccalaureate,
graduate, or professional degree in an accredited two-, three-, or four-
year college or university.

Section 2. ACTIVE MEMBER

An active member is a Soror who meets all financial obligations
for the current year of both Alpha Kappa Omega Chapter and the
international body, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated.
Every active member is a member of the international body.

A. An active Soror who desires to serve as the sponsor or co-
sponsor of a prospective candidate is required to have had at
least two (2) consecutive years (24 months) of active
membership in Alpha Kappa Omega Chapter immediately prior
to being a sponsor or co-sponsor.

A. An active member in order to participate in membership intake must
attend at least 10 of the 20 chapter meetings, immediately
preceding the nomination of a prospective candidate and participate
in at least two (2) of the following: Founders’ Day, Regional
Conference, Cluster Retreat, Chapter Retreat, Leadership and/or
Boule.

B. An active member in order to participate in membership intake
must attend at least five (5) out of ten (10) meetings per year in
the past two years according to the calendar year January 1
