ALUMINUM TUBING (.065 wall x 20' lengths) is standard for both conveying lines and vacuum lines in
general purpose applications. Even mildly abrasive products can be conveyed in aluminum provided there
are no changes of direction involved. Aluminum offers advantages in being lightweight, corrosion resistant
and easy to cut at installation.
STAINLESS STEEL TUBING (.065 wall x 20' lengths for general purpose) is standard for food and phar-
maceutical applications and those involving transfer of corrosives or abrasives. “Sanitary” tubing, without
ferrules, with one ferrule and with two ferrules is included here for use where food and pharmaceutical
applications dictate.
LATERALS/WYES - 45 degree branch laterals are standard. Available in aluminum and 316L stainless
steel, branch laterals are used to provide multiple takeoff points from a common convey line. This
component is also used as standard components of pinch valve diverter assemblies.
TEES - 90 degree branch tees are available in aluminum, 316 stainless steel. They can be used to
provide vacuum takeoff points along a common vacuum line. Stainless steel tees are used as
part of line vent assemblies and dribble feed assemblies. These tees are not otherwise used in a con-
veying line.
COUPLINGS - Three bolt compression. Used in all tube connection applications in vacuum sys-
tem. Standard with white food grade liner, stainless steel gasket protector and ground strap. In installation,
tubes are butted together inside of the coupling. A minimum 3" straight section is required on the end of a
bend (sweep elbow or shorter elbow) for proper operation of this coupling. Couplings are available with
carbon steel bodies, galvanized; or, with stainless steel bodies.
ADAPTERS - Transion from flange, pipe and tube connectins.
CAMLOCKS - Were originally designed to connect liquid handling lines. As such, “hose shank”
couplers and adapters as provided by manufacturers, have a relatively heavy cast “shank” which poses
little restriction for -fluids but more severe restriction for solids and air. VAC-U-MAX fabricates “shanks”
of tubing, reducing the flow restrictions in dry material handling applications.
CAMLOCK COUPLER (FEMALE) - Specifically refers to the female portion of the Camlock coupling
assembly. The “coupler” slips over the “adapter” and locks into place as a pair of cam arms are pulled
closed. There is a gasket inside the coupler against which the face of the adapter is pulled to make the
seal.
CAMLOCK ADAPTER (MALE) - Specifically refers to the male portion of the Camlock . These adapter
assemblies are commonly used at the ends of tubing and/or welded into blender covers to provide a well-
engineered solution to the application where a hose is to be coupled and uncoupled repeated.
CAMLOCK DUST CAP - Used to cap off open lines at Adapter Ends. Locks in place on adapter with
arms exactly as a female coupler does. Normally secured to adapter with chain to prevent loss.
SNAP CLOSURES - Use of these adapters and the snap close valves is limited to lighter duty applications
where stainless steel is not required. These adapters are stainless steel for durability reasons, but the snap
close valves are carbon steel plated.
SNAP CAMS -These valves have a spring-loaded cover. Their most common use is at the end of multiple
pickup points in material recovery system pipelines. For most conveying applications, the camlock
male adapter with dust cap and its matching hose shank coupler are a better choice than this snap close
valve.
BALL VALVES WITH TUBE TEES - Used on the convey or vacuum side as adjustable breather tubes.
SANITARY BUTTER FLY VALVES - Used for sanitary applications where a positive air closure is re-
quired.
