At the Quarter final stage of the Pairs, all four games 15
were basically one-sided. Rita & Tony Horn beat Rita &
               John Clifford-Pendleton 12 - 2; Nigel & Janet Lunn beat
previous champions John & Sheila Hillier 13 - 6; Shirley
& Phil Banner beat Pam Fayers & John Paddy 11 - 6 and
completing the round Richard & Mary Paddy recorded a
10 - 3 scoreline over previous winner Lonnie & Maureen
Fyson, thus all the fancied Pairs had gone.
In the semi-finals it was a similar one-sided set of
matches Nigel & Janet Lunn beat Rita & Tony Horn 10 - 2
whilst Shirley & Phil Banner beat Richard & Mary Paddy
               9 shots to 4.
The final was a much closer affair, at 4 - 5 down
               Shirley & Phil Banner struck with a three to lead 7 - 5. A
single then made it 8 - 5 but Nigel & Janet Lunn answered
                                                                                     Shirley & Phil Banner
with a two to close the gap to just a single shot but
Shirley & Phil were in no mood to be caught and closed (seated) with finalists
                                                                                      Janet & Nigel Lunn
out with two singles for a 10 - 7 tournament victory.

Lawra Cox, Bowls Development Officer, for Bowls Scotland comments: "The feed-
back so far on the new Triple 000 and Quad 0000 bowls has been excellent. I have seen a huge
improvement in the small kids that have gone from the junior aces to size 000 without much dif-
ficulty. I have a set out on loan with an older lady who was considering giving up and now wants
to know where she can buy the new size 000."
