Benefits of Rewarding Yourself
The reason why rewarding oneself
will help control stress is that the
person is making themselves feel
good. Improving one's mood also
increases productivity. Think about
it - would someone want to write an
essay when they are stressed,
upset, or frustrated? Obviously not!
How common is it to hear someone
say, “Oh, I’m not in the mood to do
that,” or “I don’t really feel like
doing that right now”? The thing is
that when we do not feel like doing
something, we will end up not
doing it; this explains why uplifting
one's mood through rewards will
make one more likely to do the
things one needs to do.

Often times, stress can magnify negative feelings and blow them out
of proportion. A good example of this is being given a demanding
course schedule, and the feeling of stress can make it seem
impossible to do. It is in times like these that a deep breath needs to
be taken and the schedule around school be broken down into
manageable chucks. The greatest tip in situations like this is to build
a schedule or use a planner so that you can see what needs to be
done that day in order to not fall behind.
