Walking
The most obvious and
simple way to traverse the
campus is still to walk. It is
free and the most popular
way people get around
campus. The University of
Waterloo is reasonably
sized so that someone can
go from one side of
campus to the other in
under 15 minutes.

However, the challenges that come with walking regarding the weather in Waterloo.
Often it snows in the city with lots of ice accumulating on the ground. The immense
amounts of ice, snow, and wind make it hard for students to get to class safely. Luckily,
the university has various tunnels and overpasses allowing for safe travel between many
buildings on the campus. The only issue is not all the buildings are connected and the
extra time it takes to map out these routes. The final obstacle that the students of
Waterloo face is the mighty geese. These ferocious beasts leave feces behind and often
obstruct pathways that students must cross in order to get to campus. When on foot,
people have to slowly walk around them to avoid conflict, which may result in hissing,
honking, and charging. Geese are especially aggressive during mating season, which is
during the spring, leading to possible conflict when travelling the campus on foot.
