PROMOTING DIVERSITY

As a result of the specificity of cultural clubs, two main beliefs are
       established across the campus:

Cultural clubs are safe spaces for people assumed across the student body. Due to the
that identify as members of such groups to categorization, many students often feel
talk, socialize and ultimately just be discouraged from joining for the fear that
themselves. This allows prospective students they might not be welcomed or judged upon
to know that there will definitely be a place for arrival. Although most, if not all clubs in the
them when they come to the University of university are indeed very inclusive and do
Waterloo. Thus, the cultural clubs are not discriminate, this pre-existing belief in
essentially a great means of inclusion. the minds of many prevents them from
joining clubs that they would otherwise wish
However, this inclusion for some is to be a part of. Hence, these specific clubs
sometimes perceived as exclusion for others. are not very diversified in their members
       An unfounded idea yet widely
