Film screening of Workshop on Right to
‘Anatomy of Violence’ Information Act: The Role
and Contribution of a
Librarian
A workshop on ‘Right to Information Act: The
Role and Contribution of a Librarian’ was held
on 16 May 2018 at the BCIS ‘Atlantis’. This
workshop was organized by the Bandaranaike
Centre for International Studies Library and
Information Centre in partnership with Sri
Lanka National Library and Documentation
Services Board.
As the irst workshop on the ‘Right to
Information Act’ for Librarians to be organized
in Sri Lanka, the aim of this workshop was to
highlight the crucial role played by information
professionals in bridging the digital divide and
building the capacity of the larger cross-section
of people to access all the information they
require.
Based on this workshop, a proposal was made to
the Sri Lanka National Library to develop
guidelines for Sri Lankan Librarians.
A special screening of the ilm ‘Anatomy of Violence’ and a
panel discussion with Director Deepa Mehta was organized
by the Canadian High Commission in Sri Lanka, the United
Nations Population Fund in Sri Lanka and the Bandaranaike
Centre for International Studies (BCIS) on 09 January 2018
at the BMICH Cinema Hall. Dr Harinda Vidanage, Director
BCIS delivered the Welcome Address.
