Series
The Bandaranaike Centre for International
Studies (BCIS) commenced the Afro Asian
Century Series (AACS) to realize the potential
of two key regions in the world in the 21
Century.
The aim of this series is to examine the
economic, political and strategic rise of the
two geostrategic regions in the modern
context whilst acknowledging the young
b o o m i n g p o p u l a t i o n a n d t h e
interconnectedness of these regions through
the Indian and Paci ic Oceans.
The inaugural Afro Asian Century Series

lecture was held on 1 February 2018 from at
the BCIS auditorium. The speaker was Nitin
Gokhale, one of South Asia's leading strategic
analyst, a renowned author and media trainer
He spoke on “India's New Security Posture”.
It was the irst public lecture held in Sri Lanka
where he drew ideas from his recent book
“Securing India The Modi Way”, where he
provides the most intimate and sweeping
account yet of Team Narendra Modi's
approach to national security and foreign
policy initiatives.
Drawing on internal memos, as yet classi ied
information, meeting notes and hundreds of
hours of interviews with key players in the
national security team, Nitin Gokhale shared
with the audience his take on decision-making
at the highest levels in the government of
India, especially its new security posture.
