Personal hygiene

           2- Socioeconomic status:

                  A  person’s  economic  resources  influence  the  types  and  extent  of


           hygiene practices used e.g. the availability of hot or running water.



           3- Knowledge:

                  Knowledge  about  the  importance  of  hygiene  and  its

           implications for well being influence hygiene practices.




           4- Cultural Variables:

                  A client’s cultural beliefs and personal values influence hygiene care.

           People from diverse cultural background follow different self- care practices

           e.g. hygienic care during menstruation period as well as the hygienic care of


           the sick child.


           5- Developmental level :


                     Practices  vary  according  to  the  individual’s  age.  Most  children

           learn personal hygiene habits  from their parents, who teach them how

           and when to wash their hands, brush their teeth, and so on.



           6- Psychological Factors


                 Mental  and  psychological  issues  can  affect  both  a  person's  ability  and

        motivation to perform basic hygiene. Hygiene problems can arise in later stages of


        Alzheimer's  disease,  with  apathy,  fearfulness,  depression,  inability  to  plan  or
        remember and inability





        to perform  tasks  in sequence  all  reducing  the  person's  ability  to practice


        good  hygiene.  Psychological  disorders  such  as  schizophrenia  and

        borderline  personality  often    cause    a  pronounced  lack  of  interest  in
