THE CONCLUSION

The conclusion is your « take home » message

This is the moment when the message is at its most focused.
It is the conclusion which will seal the decision, win agreement
or present the final touches to your persuasive and convincing argument.

First step: make sure people listen to it.

               - Make sure that there’s a pause, a short silence before you conclude.
               - Make sure of your eye contact with the audience. This is a key moment.
               - Use your voice to full effect (perhaps slowing down, increasing the intensity......)

             ▪ A convincing conclusion will:

                   - Reformulate the essential arguments underlining their benefits to the audience.

                   - Reiterate the heart of the message using a slogan or an easy-to-remember
                      catch phrase.

                   - Call to action or next steps. « What to do now » : who, what when, where…

You can also finish with an image of success, i.e. what could happen if
                                           your arguments are accepted.

An image of a better more motivating future: the “podium”
