The meeting noted that Kgadi Senyatsi had been nominated to serve
on the AgriSeta Board.
Upcoming pig farmers for the mentorship programme increased to 70.
The BDM App was used to capture as much information as possible.
The App platform will be rolled out to government so that they can also
gather information and place it on the SAPPO App.
Monyetla Fund
A project, with the involvement of the Monyetla fund, was about to
receive funds (R2,8 million) from Enterprise. The project was approved
but, with the change-over at Enterprise, the new management will have
to sign off on it.
It is a joint venture between a commercial farmer and a black farmer.
Medical Assistance to BDMs
The Board had to decide in principle whether SAPPO will assist the BDMs
if any of them become infected with Covid-19 while visiting farms.
Johann Kotzé had consulted with government on different levels to
confirm that SAPPO was part of essential services and SAPPO was aware
that the BDMs will have to gradually become operational. There was
currently no cap on what the expenses might be.
Peter Mockford encouraged the BDMs to take the necessary
precautions when going out in the field.
Decision:
The Board members decided in principle to support the BDMs if they
become infected with the Covid-19 virus. EB 09/2020 – 13/05/2020
Corporate Governance
The way things will operate in the office in future will change. The goal
was to make the office a safe space. A protocol was drafted to inform
staff of what they should expect while working at the office. Some
people will have to work from home. The staff will gradually come back
to the office. While working during lockdown, all went well and all staff
did what was expected of them.
Kgadi Senyatsi drafted a protocol to protect the BDMs while working with
farmers.
Willie Miller proposed that Corporate Governance matters be tabled at
the audit committee, with feedback provided to the Board.
