lead Jews into idolatry and numerous sins of
disobedience.
Moses foretold the retribution that would come upon
the Northern Kingdom. The books of I & II Kings, as well
as recorded history, tells us of the Northern Kingdom’s
fall to Assyria (Deut. 28:36-46). This conquest occurred
circa 721-720 BC. Some 700+ years later, the prophet
Hosea whose ministry spanned the period of cr.792-
710BC) also prophesied the Northern Kingdom’s fall to
Assyria (Hosea 9:1-3).
Moses foretold the fall of Israel’s Southern Kingdom
[Deut. 28:49-57] “The Lord will bring a nation against
you from afar, from the end of the earth, as swift as the
eagle flies, a nation whose language you will not
understand.” This prophecy was fulfilled when Judea fell
to Babylonian captivity (605 BC – 535 BC, Daniel 1-5)
Moses then foretold the retribution that would come
upon the Southern (Judean) Kingdom (Deut. 28:47-57).
He explained that a nation whose language they
wouldn’t understand would lay siege on Israel and a King
from a land far away would seize the lands and Jews
would be taken captive in a strange land.
Such was fulfilled during Babylonian captivity (605-535
BC). Both Isaiah (who prophesied during 740-680BC)
and Jeremiah (cr626-580 BC), foretold many accurate
details about the miseries and destruction that was to
come during the siege and captivity under
Nebuchadnezzar, the King of Babylonian.
