The determination to achieve themmight have been met with resistance through systemic racism, prejudice, prejudgments,and being disliked because you were more intelligent, intentional, and determined to winat whatever you set out to accomplish. These challenges are tough to overcome whensomeone walks by the definition others give them.History teaches us a lot if we take the time to go back and learn from it. Before theworld embraced the LGBTQ community, a person of a different sexual orientation wasdisregarded regardless of their level of intelligence because a system taught us that%u201cthose types of people%u201d are wrong in their lifestyle.What happened to %u201cthose%u201d people during that period was a lack of influence to directbrilliant and eccentric people to walk in their divine authenticity. Can you imagine whatthe world would be like had the LGBTQ community not been rejected? How manydiseases would have been cured, and how many great scientists did the world miss outon?We are often taught what to think and not to think, how to speak, and how to mirrorwhat others expect based on their subjective opinions. This makes the whole %u201cDiversity%u201dinitiative a joke.In 1977 there was a uniform trend for women working incorporate:1. Neat, straight hair in a bun or ponytail.For a Black woman, this meant no braidsor natural hairstyles.2. The dress code was dark colors, suitswith blouses, or shirts with a silk bow tieat the neck.3.
