11** The Xalional Sti/'f'lf and Machinery Dealers’ Association
M r. P r e n t iss: 1 would not want to feel it was compulsory
for us to send out the exchange second hand list. We might be
glad to do it. but T would not like to feel that I had to do it.
Mr. I ’. r i o x : My idea is to benefit the members of the Asso
ciation. and to help the Association against men who are selling
machinery who arc not Association men.
We have in New York our Center Street gang, and we have
more Jews in the second band machinery business in New York
than in the legitimate machinery business, and I think it to the
advantage of every member of this Association to get what
business he can in that line, and besides we are helping our own
men out.
M r. S c o t t: 1 make a motion that it is the sense of this
meeting that the members interchange second hand machinery on
as favorable terms as they may fix among themselves.
Seconded.
M r. B rio n : The only addition I would make is the terms
are f. o. b. the city in which the tools are. Say there are fifteen
lists, and each one has a different arrangement on that particular
point, it would be quite a study to know where “we are at.” I
make the motion that when we do have interchange lists that that
be understood.
P r e s id e x t S t r o x g : Those in favor of the original motion
as made by Mr. Scott, and seconded by Mr. Prion, will signify
it by saying aye. Carried.
M r. B rio n : My reason for making the second motion is that
if delivery is made in the town in which the tool is sold it is so
much simpler. We should take that into consideration when wc
make the price, and we should agree on that particular point.
M r. C olcord: We might go to Springfield and buy out a
shop. The tools are there, and we would ship them . . .
M r. B rion : f said where the tools are.
P r e s id e n t S tr o n g : The impression is that the prices shall
be f. o. b. the town where the tool is.
The motion being seconded was unanimously carried.
