lot) The National Supply and Machinery D ealers’ Association
Mr. S c o tt: 1 think Mr. O ’Hara’s suggestion is a good one,
but it might be provided for as the resolution is drawn. I hope
there will be a special meeting occasionally, as balloting by letter
is not of special interest.
In this meeting T have seen such an exchange of ideas that
some men have changed their opinions. I believe all of us are
sincere, and when we get togther we bring out thoughts and
suggestions that some of us have missed, and I do not believe it
can be covered by letter balloting. It has been evidenced that it
will be a good thing for this Association if we get together two or
three times a year.
PuKSiniiXT S trong : Are we ready to consider the report
of the Executive Committee?
Mr. Ckion : The only change from the present By-Laws is
that the date is changed, and that the Executive Committee can
select a place instead of the members. Mr. McIntosh told us the
troubles that the National Hardware Association had when it was
known so far ahead where the next Convention would be held;
the hotels would put up high rates and the manufacturers would
get the choice rooms and cut out the members. For that reason
we deemed it well to let the Executive Committee select the place.
On motion duly seconded, the report was unanimously
adopted.
S k ck k tary A x h k rs o x : There is another report from the
Executive Committee, recommending the following: This relates
to the appointment of a Secretary-Treasurer.
“To amend Article 4, Sec. C of the Constitution.”
“The Secretary-Treasurer shall be appointed by the Executive
Committee, who may or may not be a member of the Association,
and shall hold office at the pleasure of the Executive Committee,
and he may be appointed for a period not exceeding two years.
“He shall be required to give a satisfactory bond for the
faithful performance of his duty.”
“We also recommend that Sec. C of Art. 5 be repealed.”
M r. M cI nto sh : I would like to explain one part of that
recommendation, where it gives the Executive Committee the
power to engage the Secretary for two years. We were reminded
