Introduction:
Fundamental Issues in South Korea’s Electoral System
In this interview, Attorneys Tae-Woo Do and Yong-Jin Yoon,
analyzed the ongoing problems within South Korea’s electoral
system since 2020. They highlighted flaws in early voting
procedures; vote counting; judicial responses; and system security.
All participants emphasized the urgent need for comprehensive
reforms to restore electoral fairness.
Persistent Weaknesses in Early Voting
Yoon pointed out the lack of significant improvements in early
voting processes since 2020. A major issue is the absence of paper
records, which allows for potential electronic manipulation. He
