my mom had a
quilt like that
Folk-Art in Gray, Black and White Said not to be old. Purchased in 1995 from a vendor who got it from a
Miami, Florida estate which traced it to West Virginia. To me the design looks central American. 69"x89"
Fabric: Cotton. Batting: Medium weight cotton. Backing: Cotton muslin. Edge: Knife edge. Piecing: Machine.
Quilting: By hand, 3 stitches to the inch, in white in white pieces and the black triangles in the pieces along
the sides; in white straight lines parallel to the black border; in black generally around the motifs in the
black boxes, and in white generally around the embroidered motifs in the center white blocks. Condition:
Very good. The muslin is showing some yellowing. Comment: I have seen one other like this for sale on
eBay, so it must have been a published pattern, or if really from West Virginia, was a pattern used by a
quilt collective.
