 STRENGTHENING OF BANK AT KM:20/5 TO 20/22:

Embankment at km: 19/17-20/22 is having history of erosion of banks, this
                    was happened thrice on 20.07.2005, 23.06.2007 & 16.07.2020 between
km: 20/5 to 20/22 on DN line side. The drainage between UP & DN main
lines is running more than 1km length between two tracks. Two banks are
having height difference of more than 3 m and the formation is of black
cotton soil & condition of soil is very poor, these soils behaves differently in
summer and rainy season, due to these expansive soils, the bank slope
and drain between two embankments is getting cracks and heaving up,
formation of sags etc.., due to this stagnation of water on DN line side

due to rains which resulting into bank slope failures/ slippage of banks
                    taking place.
In order to resolve the above problem, measures like central drain
between two tracks with pitched stones with cement grouting and
provision of sub bank and retaining wall with weep holes, granular soil for
sub bank are proposed from km: 20/5 to km: 20/22 between CT and MQR
station, this will go in a long way in preventing the above said problems.

 STRENGTHENING OF BANK AT Br NO 71:

Due to severe monsoon, water level in Kagna river increased drastically
and back water damaged the abutment due to which abutment has
been shifted towards canal duly making cracks in the abutment.

In order to resolve this twin box has been constructed insitu without
                     disturbing the abutments.
