MATERIAL FEEDING / EXTRACTION SYSTEM

Support structure

INCLUDES:
▪ Checking of condition of support structures and accesses. Refer to Steel and

Concrete categorization criteria in this guide.
▪ If applicable, verify sliding support of the material feeding system into the silo
(general status, free of material and without displacement).

Discharge Cone

INCLUDES:
▪ Verification of the correct design, construction, use and maintenance of silo
extraction cone, the fluidification flow and its elements.
▪ Critical element: if not reinforced / supported, connection of discharge cone and

silo wall must be inspected in detail.

GOOD PRACTICE
▪ Suspended cones have a higher rate

of failure. Existing silos that use a
suspended cone should consider
reinforcement or support of the cone
from underneath.

REMARKS
▪ Some faulty airslides in a full set can
lead to asymmetric material flow and
can distort uniformity of loads on silo
wall.
