LOAD BEARING LIMITATIONS

INCLUDES:
▪ Information plates or panels regarding the bearing limits of the platform /

walkway must be visually available at site.
▪ Platform duty is respected.

▪ Deflection caused by a loaded platform must be within the deflection limits

(1/200 of the span)

GOOD PRACTICE:
▪ Authorized storage areas in a platform must be physically demarcated on site with its

limits clearly indicated.

REMARKS: (according to ISO 14122)

The minimum operating loads calculated for the landing, walkways and working
platforms are usually:
o 2 kN/m2 under distributed load for the structure

o 1,5 kN concentrated load applied in the most unfavorable position over a concentrated
load area of 200 mm x 200 mm for the flooring.

o When loaded with the design load, the deflection of the flooring shall not exceed 1/200
of the span and the difference between the loaded and the neighboring unloaded flooring
shall not exceed 4 mm in height.
