Remake a film that previously flopped at the box office
with a stronger cast, tighter script, better director or
higher effects budget and release the new version a
year after the initial failure. Should the film still fail to
find a mass audience, the process would be repeated on
an annual basis. As one hit pays for many failures in the

149film business, the instant-remake plan would offer an
attractive double-or-nothing financial model for a
studio. The very novelty of the concept would ensure
huge PR and word of mouth, and the annual releases
could become cult events in their own right.

Design a smart volume-control for personal stereos that
would monitor ambient noise levels and adjust the
playback volume accordingly. When on a train, for
example, the volume would be higher when travelling at

150speedthanwhenstationary.
