Neo-Paws boots. These are the only ones I’ve
found to stay on Keesie feet and I’ve had them for
years but I’ve noticed some newer brands with a
similar style are out now. Because they’re not
waterproof I put a thick poly bag inside over any
dressing/sock I may want to keep dry. These boots
are also ideal worn as they are to protect any
Grankees with arthritic feet who have started to scuff
their nails.
Snuggle Safe microfibre towel. I know there are
masses of these out there but I find this particular
make so absorbent and yet also so quick to dry.
They come in a small (perfect size for legs and feet)
and a large (just right to envelope your Keesie for a
full dry off). They only do this gold colour but hey…
Dog hair dryer/blaster. I’ve found it invaluable
to be able to rinse my Keesies down whether for
showing or just because they are muddy or sandy
etc. and then dry their thick coats. Even great for
just blowing dirt out of the coat when grooming with
a pin brush and mist sprayer. Powerful and only a
mild heat; this one of mine I’ve used regularly now
for about 20 years but there are lots available to
choose from.
Wrist/hock splints. A real boon for the Grankees
diagnosed with arthritis in the carpal joints. Easily
obtainable now on Amazon; your vet will help you
select the best one for your Keeshond’s own
condition. Always buy a pair though, whether for
front or hind legs, so that your dog’s gait is balanced.
I used to put a cotton baby sock with the toes cut
off as a sleeve under it to stop the Velcro catching
on the fur.
Pushchair. Yup, it’s true! …But I didn’t want
to leave the little mite alone at home when she
started getting tired more quickly on walks with
her 13 year old ‘kiddies’ so this was the perfect
solution in my eyes. She walked a bit; she rode
a bit… but the important thing was she came
with us, which was what she wanted to do most
of all. She-She loved her Ebay all terrain
pushchair and that’s what mattered to me. She-She Ribb-itt !
