“Who here is brave?” James, I have no doubt.
Thomas winked, James thought he understood what
he was getting at. “Who is brave enough to come
with me into the forest?”

“This ridiculous forest?” exclaimed Charlie,
“Whenever you want. Let's go right now.”

“All right, James replied with a meaningful look to
Kate, he knew he had to go to the forest to get rid of
Thomas, he'd known that since he'd noticed that time
had stopped around them, since he'd noticed that the
sun had stayed at its zenith although it was normally
four o'clock in the afternoon.

They went into the forest, when Thomas was about
to kill the phoenix, James again tried to stop him. But
Thomas knew James' intention and when James
approached, Thomas punched him in the face to keep
him away. James collapsed to the ground, but the
sound they both made drove the bird away. James
had difficulty getting up, he felt extremely weak
again, drained of all energy, when he got up his legs
trembled and had difficulty supporting him. Thomas
apologized that he had done this out of reflex, but
James was satisfied that the bird was saved. They
continued their expedition, but Thomas was so close
to Kate and James that it was impossible for them to
