Abstract
In this science outreach work, we introduce the use of SCILAB as a powerful tool for numerically exploring the ancient n-Body Problem of
Celestial Mechanics. SCILAB, a high-level programming language tailored for scientific computations, offers a plethora of additional
functionalities including 2-D graphics, linear algebra capabilities, etc. Specifically, we delve into the understanding of the 3-Body Problem
near total collision, focusing on a distinctive scenario: following a close encounter resulting in a triple collision, two celestial bodies
gravitate toward each other, forming a binary system, while the third body is ejected at high velocity in the opposite direction. By
combining programming techniques with SCILAB's graph generation functionalities, we unveil significant didactic benefits, enhancing the
comprehension of complex celestial mechanics.
