이천 신대리 백송(천연기념물 제253호, 수령 약 250년)은 나무껍질이 넓은 조각으로 벗겨져
흰빛을 띠는 희귀한 소나무이다.
원산지는 중국이며, 조선시대 중국을 왕래하던 사신들이 가져다 심은 것으로 알려져 있다.
이 백송은 지상 1m 높이에서 줄기가 두 갈래로 갈라지며, 나무 높이는 10.2m, 가슴높이
줄기 둘레는 각각 2.0m와 2.1m이다.
마을에서 약 1㎞ 떨어진 야산에 위치하며, 나무의 모습이 매우 아름답다.
조선시대 전라감사를 지낸 민정식의 할아버지 민달용의 묘소에 심은 것으로 전해진다.
흔히 볼 수 없는 희귀한 소나무로, 중국과의 교류를 알려주는 역사적 자료로서 가치가 높아
천연기념물로 지정·보호되고 있다.

The White Pine of Sindae-ri in Icheon (Natural Monument No. 253, approx. 250 years old) is
a rare pine tree distinguished by its bark, which peels off in broad plates to reveal a whitish
hue.
Native to China, it is believed to have been planted during the Joseon dynasty by envoys
returning from diplomatic missions to China.
At about 1 meter above the ground, the trunk divides into two branches. The tree stands
10.2 meters tall, with trunk circumferences of 2.0 meters and 2.1 meters respectively
at breast height. Located on a low hill about one kilometer from the village, the tree is
admired for its graceful form.
It is said to have been planted near the tomb of Min Dal-yong, the grandfather of Min
Jeong-sik, who later served as Governor of Jeolla Province during the Joseon dynasty.
As an exceptionally rare pine, it holds great value as a historical record of cultural exchange
between Korea and China, which is why it has been designated and protected as a Natural
Monument.
