standing on a ladder at just 10 feet. He doesn’t seem to
get the concept of “the higher you soar or the climb, the
greater the fall.”
He’s not the only one who doesn’t get it. 21st-
Century church don’t get it either. Modern Christian
church preachers are looked upon as idols and objects
of adoration, and sex symbols rather than vessels of God.
And, that isn’t the worse of it. The worse thing about it
is they proudly and carnally welcome, encourage and
enjoy this type of admiration and praise.
They rise high in the eyes of the people. They
soar high like rock stars. They have become religious
celebrities. But, have you ever seen what happens when
major celebrities fall?
Football great, Orenthal James Simpson (the Juice)
was such a star. O.J. Simpson had it all. He was the only
player in the game to ever rush for over 2,000 yards in
the NFL regular 14-game season. Simpson was inducted
into the College Football Hall of Fame in 1983 and the Pro
Football Hall of Fame in 1985.
He appeared in seventeen (17) movies and TV
shows. He co-anchored 447 episodes of ESPN’s Monday
Night Football, and he was credited for being the subject
of fifty-two (52) various other TV shows. That sounds
pretty high to me. I’m sure we all know of the rise and
fall of O.J. Simpson.
After being implicated as a suspect in the deaths
of his ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and her friend Ron
Goldman, Simpson’s high flying spiraled into an out of
control nose dive. He soon learned, the higher you rise,
the greater the fall.
