My son has a slight, but odd fear of heights but
rather strangely, he’s flies airplanes. I asked him how
he’s able to soar through the air while piloting an aircraft
but is uncomfortable on a 12-foot ladder. His answer was
simply, “It’s just different.”
He seems to think, in an aircraft he’s in control, but
while standing on a ladder placed against the outside of
the house, the ladder could slide out from under him.
He’s comfortable pushing an airplane through the clouds
at 10,000 feet above the earth, but he’s uncomfortable
