NORTH LEAN-TO VINERY

plated’. [Sales Particulars 1902] -1 ..
Part of the site of this vinery is
occupied by a modem lean-to glass
house used for growing tomatoes. The
west end is occupied by an open shed
put up to provide shelter for a car. In
1905 this vinery was planted mainly
with Mucat of Alexandria Grapes, the
canes bearing a good crop and the
fruit well finished considering the
external atmospheric conditions.

LEAN-TO PEACH HOUSE The Peach House
`Lean-to Peach House, about 96ft long,
well stocked with thriving peaches’. ..The greenhouse is no longer extant- only the rear brick wall and small brick upstand

front wall remain. The beds are gravelled.
The base of a long continuos lean-to
house against the north wall of the
garden measures 53.6m [175ft] long
and 3.9m [c. 12ft 6in] broad. If the
vegetation cover is cleared it should be
possible to trace the division into the
Peach House and Vinery parts. The
back wall is whitewashed but not
plastered. In 1905 the variety of

peaches grown are named as ‘Prince of
Wales, Princess of Wales, Noblesse and
Royal George. s -
