4. Cracking:
Fine cracks on tablet surface.
Causes:

    • Rapid expansion after compression.
    • Large tablet size.
    • Low moisture content.

5. Picking and Sticking:
Adhesion of granules to punch surface.
Causes:

    • Moist granules.
    • Excess binder or heat-sensitive ingredients.

         Remedy:
    • Dry granules properly.
    • Polish punches.
    • Add lubricant or antiadherent (talc).

6. Mottling:
Uneven color distribution.
Causes:

    • Migration of dye during drying.
    • Light reflection from ingredients.

         Remedy:
    • Use insoluble colors or lake pigments.
    • Control drying rate.

7. Double Impression:
Printing appears twice on the tablet.
Causes:

    • Free rotation of punch with embossing.
         Remedy:

    • Lock upper punch key to prevent rotation.

8. Weight Variation:
Unequal tablet weights due to non-uniform flow or poor mixing.
Remedy:
