unsensitized Rh-Negative mother gives birth to an
Rh-positive infant .Rh(D) Positive foetal cells may
escape across the placenta into her circulation during
labor. If this occurs the mother becomes permanently
sensitized, so that further Rh- positive infant will
suffer from haemolytic disease of the newborn.

If anti -D immunoglobulin is given to the mother
within 60 h of delivery ,it interacts with the foetal
Rh(D) positive cells, causes them to disappear from
the circulation & Prevents them from stimulating her
antibody-forming tissues to produce anti-D
immunoglobulin.

d-Anti-HBs Immunoglobulin

Preparation containing antibody to hepatitis B
surface antigen ,may be of value in preventing or
modifying serum hepatitis e.g. in laboratory or
hospital stuff accidentally exposed to infection with
the virus Plasma protein(albumin) is maintenance of
blood volume

9-Albumin Preparations

a-Human Albumin Fraction (Saline) ,BP (Plasma
Protein Fraction,BP)

Total protein conc. Is about 45% g/l ,albumin is
determined electrophoretically ,forms at least 90% of
protein present.

pH 7.0 sod. Chloride is added for isotonicity , 0.004 M
