5- Concentrates of Human Coagulation Factors
II,VII,IX and X
Available pts. With congenital absence of Factor IX.
Pts cannot be treatedsuccessfuly with concentrates of
human or animal Factor VIII . Specific concentrates
should not be used in pts. With a bleeding tendency
until the diagnosis has been confirmed by laboratory
investigation.
6-Dried Human Thrombin, BP
Prepared from a prothrombin-containing protein
fraction precipitated from fresh plasma by organic
solvents. It is then activated by human tissue
thromboplastin in the presence of calcium ions. The
solution is clarified ,sterilized by filtration & dried
from the frozen state. The potency is defined in terms
of ‘clotting doses” ,or “units”.
One unit is the quantity of thrombin required to
produce a visible clot in 1ml of 1.0 g /l saline solution
of fibrinogen at pH7,2 in 15 seconds at 37 ⁰.
Storage: Dry condition ,PFL,below 20⁰ .
Labelling: Besides general requirement ,the number of
doses present.Do not inject.
Uses : Local haemostatic agent.
Thrombin must not injected IV , label bears , in bold,
