preparations of this type are concentrates of blood
coagulation factors, concentrates of plasma antibodies
or immunoglobulins , and albumin preparations.

In addition to routine test for sterility,pyrogenicity,
identity,solubility,protein and moisture contents, the
quality of the plasma protein fraction is controlled by:

1Electrophoretic,immunoelectrophoretic,ultracentrgal

and chromatographic analysis.

2-Assay of specific activities ,such as coagulation
factor or antibody activity .

3-Test of heat stability

Substances liberated from damaged
tissues……activation of prothrombin
……thrombin(enzyme)…….polymerization

Of fibrinogen …………..fibrin.

These reactions require the presence of
platelets,calcium & plasma factors (proteins) ,factor
V,VII,VIII,IX,X,XI andXII.

Deficiency of one of these factors ……impaired
clotting………bleeding.
