of normal immunoglobulin lessens the incidence of
infection but does not necessarily protect against
chronic infection of the respiratory or GI tract.
a-Human Antivaccinia Immunoglobulin
It is prepared from the blood of donors revaccinated
against smallpox during the previous 3 months .It
should contain not less than 500IU per ml.
Uses:
1-To prevent complications of vaccination in children
with eczema or in eczematous children accidentally
exposed to vaccinia.
2-To provide immediate passive protection in
previously unvaccinated smallpox contacts who have
just been vaccinated to produce active immunity .
3-To treat eczema vaccinatum generalized vaccinia &
progressive vaccinia .
4-To treat postvaccinial encephalitis.
b-Human Antitetanus Immunoglobulin
Prepared from the blood of donors who have been
immunized against tetanus.Used for protection of
persons sensitive to animal tetanus antitoxin.An
injection of 250IU will give serum level of 0.01-0.05 IU
per ml .
c- Human Anti-D Immunoglobulin
Used to suppress sensitization of Rh-negative mothers
to R H (D) antigen .This may occur when an
