Rubella

To prevent the disease .When woman contracts
rubella in the first 4 months of pregnancy ,her child
may be born with certain abnormalities .750mg
normal immunoglobulin is given.

Infectious hepatitis

Normal immunoglobulin is effective in preventing
clinical disease &is particularly useful in nurseries
,mental institutions & other situations where the risk
of spread is great .In day schools only classmates are
usually protected . A single dose will protect for 6
months . Travellers who intend to visit countries
where the incidence of hepatitis is great should be
given immunoglobulin

The value of normal immunoglobulin in preventing
the disease is not yet defined.

Chickenpox

Normal immunoglobulin will modify the disease but
not protect against it.Its use is confined to prophylaxis
or treatment in subjects at special risk ,e.g. premature
& newborn infant contacts.

Hypogammaglobulinaemia

Pts. With this condition are particularly susceptible to
bacterial infections ,particularly with Grammmm-
positive bacteria.The regular administration of normal
