Parenterals: Excipients & additives pH
• pH adjustments are made to either modify solubility or
stability of the preparation.
• It is desirable to target the pH of the product to physiological
pH of 7.4. However, both drug solubility and stability are
dependent on medium pH.
• Therefore, the pH chosen for a parenteral product is likely to
be a compromise between the requirements for stability,
solubility and physiological compatibility.
