Roots Containing Miscellaneous Constituents

1- Isoflavones: Derris root 2-
Phlobatannins: Krameria root.
3- Lactones: Kava-Kava root.
4- Polysacarides: Astragalus root
5- Acids: Echinacea

                                    Derris root

   Derris is the dried rhizomes and roots of Derris species Family
   Leguminoseae.
   Constituents: mainly rotenone (isoflavone) 3-10%.

   Uses:
           It is used in the form of Prepared Derris powder as safe insecticide.

   It is not poisonous to man and domestic animals, but inhalation of the
   powder produces unpleasant symptoms.

   N.B. before its use as insecticide, it was used to paralyze fish, also applied
   to treat head lice and scabies.

                                 Krameria root
                            Peruvian Rhatany root

                                          ‫جذر الكرامريا‬
   The bark readily separates from the wood. The bark is astringent but the
   wood almost tasteless.

   Constituents:
   1- Mainly tannins (7-18%) phlobatannins(condensed) known as

       krameria-tannic acid (dark red colour).
