4- Gelsemium
1-Hydrastis (Golden seal rhizome, yellow root)
Dried roots and rhizomes of Hydrastis canadensis, family Runnculaceae.
Constituents:
1- Isoquinoline yellow alkaloids (hydrastine, canadine and berberine).
2- Resins, volatile oils and starch.
Uses:
1- Used for centuries for the treatment of mouth sores, whooping cough,
pneumonia, digestive disorder and postpartum haemorrhage.
2- The alkaloids can reduce gastric inflammation, relieve congestion,
and destroy many types of bacterial and viral infections
- Echinacea combined with goldenseal is one of the top-selling
botanical dietary supplements in the US as immuno-stimulants.
- Berberine, inhibits the proliferation of oesophageal cancer cell
lines researches showed that berberine induces apoptosis in
leukemic HL-60 cells.
2-Veratrum (Hellebore) rhizome

Uses
• Anti-hypertensive.
• Insecticide due to high toxicity.
