  Constituents:
    1- Anthraquinone glycosides with the following aglycones:
       chrysophanol, emodin, aloe-emodin and rhein.
    2- Tannins.
    3- Starch and calcium oxalate.

  Chemical test:
         Modified Borntrager`s test for Anthraquinone glycosides.

  Uses:
    1- Bitter tonic and stomachic.
    2- Mild purgative (mild due to tannins).
    3- In diarrhoea due to tannins.

                               2-Podophyllum

  Constituents
- Podophyllum resin (change to the inactive form with alkalis).
- The resin is formed mainly of podophylotoxin

  Uses
- Drastic purgative in moderate doses
- Anti-cancer.

                               3- Black Cohosh

      It consists of the dried rhizomes and roots of Cimicifuga racemosa (L.)
      Nutt. (Ranunculaceae).
