                                  Oleo-gum-resins
                                      Myrrh ‫المر‬

Dried oleo-gum-resins obtained by incision or produced by spontaneous exudation
from the stem and branches of Commiphora molmol Engler . f. Burseraceae.

Constituents:
Essential oil:

Monoterpenes, Furano-sesquiterpene, sesquiterpene lactone (commiferin),
eugenol.

Gum.

Resin:

Acids α,β commiphoric acid.

Uses:
-Tincture myrrh is a component of variable dental remedies.
-Gargle and mouth wash for mild inflammation of oral and pharyngeal mucosa
(commission E approved).
-In some haemorrhoidal preparations.
-it is claimed to be beneficial in the treatment of bilharziasis.
