Ether extract of myrrh (prepared by crushing with sand then extracting), filtered,
evaporated to dryness in a porcelain dish and the residue left turns violet when
exposed to bromine vapor or when adding few drops of C. nitric acid.
Guggul
Air -dried oleogum resin exudate from the stems and branches of Commiphora
mukul f. Burseraceae.
Constituents:
Essential oil: monoterpene, diterpene. gum: made up of galactose,
arabinose, 4-O-methyl glucuronic acid. Resinous fraction:
diterpene cembrene guggulsterones.
Guggulipid.
Triterpene (myrrhanol)
Uses:
Lipid lowering activity.
Anti-inflammatory activity.

Oleo-gum resin obtained by incision from the bark of Boswellia carteri. Family
