Camphene
It is an example of bicylic monoterpene hydrocarbon,
Class III: (6 + 5 membered ring).
Source:
Nutmeg oil.
Camphene is the only example of solid crystalline terpene hydrocarbon.
Uses:
In the preparation of fragrances and as a food additive.
Rowachol® Capsules
Pinene, Camphene, Cineol, Menthone, Menthol, Borneol.
Rowachol contains essential oils that help to dissolve or break up
cholesterol-based gallstones. It also reduces the cholesterol content of
bile. This may enable existing gallstones to dissolve and help prevent new
gallstones from forming. Rowachol also increases bile production and
relaxes the bile ducts. This helps reduce painful spasms of the bile ducts.
Sesquiterpene Hydrocarbons:
- The sesquiterpene, in general, form the higher boiling fraction of the
volatile oils (250-280°C, more viscous).
- They built up of three isoprene units, linked (head to tail).
- The sesquiterpenes are classified into four groups according to the
number of rings present in the structure (Formation of a ring utilizes one
double bond in the process):
Group Double bond Ring
Acyclic 4 No ring
Monocyclic 3
Bicyclic 2 One
Tricyclic 1 Two
