Uses:
Diosmin is used for treating various disorders of blood vessels including
hemorrhoids ,varicose veins, poor circulation in the legs (venous stasis),
and bleeding (hemorrhage) in the eye or gums.
2- Flavonol glycosides
The glycosides rutin and quercetrin are examples of flavonol glycosides.
Rutin
Rutin is the 3-rhamnoglucoside of the genin quercetin.
It gives on hydrolysis the aglycone (quercetin) beside one molecule of glucose,
and one molecule of rhamnose.
Quercetrin
The glycoside quercetrin on the other hand is quercetin, 3-0-rhamnoside.
The disaccharide moietyof rutin (rhamno-glucose) is known as rutinose;
which is of common occurrence in glycosides of family rutaceae.
