These two Afghan pathans Jamshed Khan and Wasil Beg followed Guru Ji
to Nanded. One evening, Guru Ji was resting after Rehras Sahib. The
Afghans entered his room and one of them stabbed Guru Ji in the left side
below the heart. Before he could deal another blow, Guru Gobind Singh
struck him down with his sword. The other Pathan was killed by the Sikhs
who had rushed in on hearing the noise.
The news of the attack on Guru Ji reached Emperor Bahadar Shah. He
sent his own European surgeon to attend to the Guru. The Guru's wound
was immediately stitched by the surgeon and within a few days it appeared
to have been healed.
