Kiran Kaur Brar Group 1 Judge
Born and raised in the Silicon Valley zone, Kiran earned two
Bachelor’s degrees from University of California, Berkeley in Data
Science and Cognitive Science and her Master’s in Data Analytics
from San Jose State University. She currently works at Apple on
the System Intelligence and Machine Learning team as a Software
and Data Engineer.
Kiran started her journey with Hemkunt when she was 7 years old.
She was a passionate participant for 15 years and competed at
the international level numerous times. Kiran then returned to
Hemkunt as a judge at the local and zonal level for several years
as well.
As a former participant, she understands how Hemkunt speech
competitions can be a transformative and invaluable opportunity. Her experience throughout the years
of researching, preparing, and delivering speeches provided her an unique and meaningful moment to
deepen her relationship with Gurbani through understanding and applying the teaching of the Gurus.
She is excited and thankful to continue her journey with the Hemkunt Speech Symposium as it empowers
and enables the next generation of influential Sikh public speakers.
Dr Arinder Singh Chadha Group 1 Judge
Arinder Chadha currently lives in Orange County, California and is a
practicing physician in Los Angeles. He has been involved with the
Hemkunt Foundation for the past 20 years and currently serves as a
board member. He is also on the boards for the Sikh Center of
Orange County, two interfaith organizations, and the Sikh Research
Institute. Outside of medicine, his main interests focus on Sikhi and
Sikh history and he enjoys educating himself and others on this
discipline. In his free time, you will often find him reading and
listening to podcasts about Sikhi and sharing his knowledge with like-
minded people. Often the people he is sharing his takeaways with
are his wife and his two adult children! A fun fact about Arinder is
that, despite our current digital age, he continues to subscribe to a
print newspaper that he loves the smell of and reads daily alongside a cup of light roast Colombian
coffee.
