Ameeta Kaur Tiwana Group 2 Judge
Ameeta Kaur Tiwana was born in Delhi, later
from Delhi University she earned a bachelors
in Zoology and a M.Sc. in Anthropology. She
came to the US in 1985 and from Southern
Illinois University she earned a Ph.D. in
Anthropology. She has taught anthropology
for over 30 years at De Anza College and is
Chair of the department. Both teaching and
anthropology are her passion. Ameeta have
also taught Punjabi and Gurbani at Guru Nanak
Khalsa School, San Jose (GNKS) and helped in
co-ordination sewa of the educational
program.
Ameeta, her husband Gurumukh, daughter
Barkha Kaur, son Manpreet Singh and her
parents have been part of Hemkunt family for
over 25 years. We are incredibly grateful to
the foundation for providing us this platform
which has strengthened our faith and shaped
who we are today. Hemkunt foundation has
enriched their lives beyond measure, in all aspects - spiritually, personally, and socially. Ameeta
has been engaged with the foundation as a parent, coach, and as a judge at various levels.
Judging Hemkunt speech competitions has been a great honor but at the same time is an
incredible challenge since the participants qualifying are just exceptional.
