Epstein-Barr Virus (EBV)

Virus speculated to induce Multiple Sclerosis.

Total assets minus total liabilities; also called shareholders’ equity, net worth or book value.

Documents that make up the regulatory pack, required of each site participating in a clinical
trial.

Ethics Committee (EC)

Institutional Review Board equivalent for Europe

European Academy of Neurology (EAN)

A non-profit organization that unites neurologists across Europe. Formed at the Joint
Congress of European Neurology by the former European Neurological Society (ENS) and
European Federation of Neurological Sciences (EFNS)

European Committee for Treatment & Research in Multiple Sclerosis (ECTRIMS)

An independent representative for European-wide organization devoted to multiple sclerosis
(MS).

European Medicines Agency (EMA)

European agency for the evaluation of medicinal products.
