Product Lifecycle Management (PLM)
The process of managing the entire lifecycle of a product from inception, through
development and manufacture, to service and disposal of manufactured products.
Product Review Committee (PRC)
Agency responsible for reviewing the safety of medical products and devices.
Product Safety Profile (PSP)
The known information about how safe a product is.
Product Segment
The Product segment defines the drug name for commercial pharmaceuticals, clinical
products, as well as contract manufactured medicines.
Profit
The positive gain from an investment or business operation after subtracting for all
expenses. The opposite of loss.
Profit & Loss Statement (P&L)
A financial summary of operations (sales, expenses, net profit) for a specific period of time
Profit Before Tax (PBT)
A profitability measure that looks at a company's profits before the company has to pay
corporate income tax. This measure deducts all expenses from revenue including interest
expenses and operating expenses, but it leaves out the payment of tax. Also referred to as
"earnings before tax ".
Profit Margin
Net profit after taxes divided by sales for a given period of time, expressed as a percentage.
Program Dimension
The Program dimension hierarchy combines all product codes and project codes. It will drive
Product and Program P&Ls (profit and loss statements).
