dance. They have gained a wonderful reputation and fantastic reviews.

A special presentation for the donation of $20,000 from the Martin St James hypnosis charity show
to channel 9, was held at the Southport Sharks Club. The channel 9 representative expressed
gratitude to GFCBWA and Martin St James for the donations from participants and said that the acts
of kindness brought warmth to the world and demonstrated the wonderful side of human nature.

There was a sponge cake workshop held by instructor Ms Janet Jian(簡秀香).
3 and 5 October 2008
GFCBWA organised two performances for the Tainan University orchestra tour in Queensland. The
performances were held at the Albert Waterways community centre, Broadbeach, and Brisbane City
Hall. It encompassed two memorable nights of symphony concerts, where members learnt about
the importance of unity, and assisted each other in communication and coordination.
15 November 2008
A joint charity event was organised by the Breast Cancer Foundation and GFCBWA to celebrate the
fourth Anniversary of GFCBWA and the pink fund raising charity gala dinner party. The event was
held at the Gold Coast International hotel. The show was carefully planned, and was a lot of fun.
The entertainment included, westerners reading Chinese poems, Indonesian traditional dance, Sian
dance (香舞), and singing and dancing to modern pop songs. Special thanks goes to Eva and China
Airlines for sponsoring return tickets between Brisbane and Taipei. In addition, a lot of famous
stores offered great prizes for our charity auction. A big thank you also goes to our adviser,
directors, supervisors and other local business owners who offer gifts for the raffle. A total of
$10,000 was raised for the Breast Cancer Foundation from this event.
22-29 November 2008
GFCBWA members went on a seven day luxury cruise holiday together. They enjoyed the beautiful
South Pacific Ocean for our end of year holiday!

The famous master of boxing, martial art, lion dance, and qi-gong (氣功); Professor Wu Tengda (吳
騰達) was invited to the Gold Coast. His visit was to promote a cultural exchange, our Tai-Chi class
members benefited greatly.

The Mother’s Day family BBQ event was held at Clear Island Waters.
10 May 2009
GFCBWA participated in the Mother’s Day hiking experience on the Gold Coast, organised by the
Breast Cancer Foundation. Members participating met at Hollindale Park, Main Beach.
12 May 2009
How to teach Chinese to students from age 5-65, ensued and was presented by speaker, Ms Rose
Wu (吳錫燕).
