Celebrating Mother’s Day; GFCBWA organised a Mother’s Day, mother and children dinner party to
show appreciation to all the hard working mothers, their contribution to their family and their
children. In addition, three ladies were awarded Mother of the year from GFCBWA, Ms. Lu Wuzhu
(盧吳朱) , Ms.Zhang Minzhen (張敏貞)and Ms. Lisa Chung (趙玉琴).

Sending Love from the Gold Coast, - Australia’s GFCBWA organised a special Zongzi charity sales
event to raise money for the China Sichuan Earthquake appeal. Special thanks goes to Amy Hu,
Lisa Chong for their instruction and teaching to members, Sue Lin (林淑敏), Sun Wei (孫偉), Flora
Chen (陳思伃), Josephine Chang (張嘉恩), Liu Shaoyen (劉小燕), Julie Kao (高家芸), Jenny Bao (包
洁), Ganny Kusno (邱芳瑜), Sally Zou (鄒麗華), Amy Hu, Lian Yue’e (連月娥), Gan Lu (甘露), and
Grace Turvey (高潔儀), and making many Zongzis for the charity appeal. Each Zongzi represents
an act of kindness from people on the Gold Coast. This event raised Au$2,500.

The Hottest Friday Night in Town was a special event organised by the Rotary Club. It helped our
members to experience Australian culture and tradition and be part of the local community. The
organiser displayed our logo and flag in the event to promote GFCBWA. It was a great experience
and great exposure for GFCBWA.

Sue Lin, president of GFCBWA, and Ms Liu, vice president of GFCBWA, lead members to attend a
charity dinner party at Sunnybank’s Landmark restaurant, organised by the Buddha’s Light
International Association Queensland Loving Care Group..

Sending the love from Gold Coast Australia - the Martin St James charity show for China’s Sichuan
earthquake appeal was organised by GFCBWA, and held at Southport Sharks Club. Over 700
people inundated the venue until there wasn’t a spare seat in the house. The loving, peaceful
atmosphere filled every corner of the place. It confirmed that pure love had no borders, no religion,
race, or political restrictions; it is beyond the cultural and language barriers. Martin’s charisma and
hypnotic power surprised everyone at the event. This charity show raised $20,000 in total for the
Sichuan earthquake appeal, donating through channel 9, to rebuild schools in the Sichuan
earthquake area.
Thank you everyone for all your kind support for this wonderful charity show, despite the freezing
